Dears, This second book of the series FOLLOW ME is a documentation of history of Churches/Parishes in Tiswadi or Ilhas in the colonial and post Portuguese era [Very little is known of the pre-Colonial Christianity in Goa save references to the Syrian Christians by Fr. Cosme Costa sfx of Pilar Society that were strongly disputed by the former Delagate of Fundacao Oriente, Adv. Sergio Almeida quoting from history of Ibn Batuta]. The present book briefly traces the history of each church that stands in Tiswadi, and lists the Parish Priests of each church from the beginning. The listing ends with the incumbent Parish Priests of today. "Mormugao's Rich Heritage" is a book that documents the St. Andrew's parish in detail with glimpses of social life beyond the religious. It was released at MPT hall while Fr. Nascimento was in Vasco. The first "Follow Me" was released at JMJ hospital hall while Fr. Nascimnento was at the Clergy Home in Porvorim. He worked on the present volume while he was there. Fr. Nascimneto is forever 18 years old at heart and has more enthusiasm in life that the current teenagers. He has correctly chosen the Valentine's Day eve to release his book. Significantly it is on a Friday, the day of the ultimate love. The book release function will be held at the St. Pius X. Pastoral Institute , Old Goa on 13th Feb 2009 at 4.00 P.M. in the evening. It is open to public. The venue is on the road from the Gandhi cirlcle and Se cathedral to the Divar jetty, close to the Viceroy's arch. Manuel Gomes, Director of the Diocesan Centre for the Biblical Apostolate and Professor of Pastoral Institute, Old Goa, will be the Chief Guest and release Fr. Nascimento Mascarenhas' fifth book and the second in the series entitled 'Follow Me'. The book release function will be held at the St. Pius X. Pastoral Institute , Old Goa on 13th Feb 2009 in the evening. Rev. Fr. Joseph A. Rowland Salema, the director of Pastoral Institute will be the Guest of Honour and will also read the excerpts from the book. This book deals with the study of history of Tiswadi or Ilhas in five chapters beginning with the Historico-Geographical, religious and political situation both pre and post Portuguese era. The fifth chapter traces the history in brief of each church of Tiswadi, its evangelization and a long lists of the Parish Priests of each church from the beginning and ending with the Vicars at present time with their relevant bio-data. The book also has a map of the Islands showing the location of each church with photographs of the old and the present churches. The notes, references and bibliography in the body are an added motivation to all future historians. The author Fr. Mascarenhas is a well known priest and Church Historian who has served in several parishes of Goa as a Catholic Pastor during the almost 40 years of his priesthood. Beside, his articles are published by various journals and periodical publications in Goa both in English and Konkani. He is also a regular a contributor to the Saligaonet group and Dor Mhoineachi Rotti. His selected essays earlier contributed to the Saligaonet group are now hosted on the website www.saligaoserenade.com. At present he is at the St. Francis Xavier Convent, Santo Estevam.
