Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyala based at Mount Abu in
Rajasthan has been advocating healthy and fruitful agriculture practises
with a spiritual dimension integrated into the scientific practices.

Apart from promoting chemicals-free organic farming, the Brahma Kumaris
claim to have successfully integrated the Raja Yogic practices into
farming, resulting in high crop yield and enriching of the crops with
higher nutritional values when compared to the agricultural practices of
the average farmer in the country.

National coordinator of the rural development wing of the Brahma Kumaris,
Raju told *The Hindu* that the Rajayoga Education and Research Foundation
of the Grama Vikas division have launched a unique project dubbed as
‘Sustainable Yogic Agriculture'. The project involves application of the
power of yogic meditation on the agriculture crops through the medium of
personal or mass meditation in the fields. The yogic practice involving
positive thoughts releases electro magnetic power into the plants.
Scientific research has demonstrated the effect of thoughts on water. Water
stores thought energy and thus energy impacts whoever and whatever use it.
The positive thoughts subjected to water had been found to form beautiful
crystals and water exposed to negative thoughts form either no crystal or
deformed ones. The results of such yogic meditation in the agro-farms in
Rajasthan and Gujarat and other States, Raju says is astounding and well
corroborated by teams of scientists who researched on farms practising the
spiritual concepts.

Organic farming coupled with Rajayoga meditation applied on crops such as
tomato, sugarcane, cucumber, wheat and chilly etc revealed that not only
the net profit area has increased, the qualitative parameters are better in
yogic farming. A team of 21 agricultural scientists from different parts of
the country visited Rudrapur in Rajasthan where wheat was grown under
Rajyoga treatment. Studies indicated that there was greater germination
rate and growth of seedlings in the groups that were watered with energised
water that had been treated with positive thoughts of those in meditation.

He says that the Rajasthan experiment is also being replicated in Chittoor
district under the guidance of Veena, a Brahma Kumari activist. Farmers in
Chittoor who tried the Yogic meditation oriented agriculture have seen
astounding results with regard to germination, growth and quality of crop.
The yogic agriculture if replicated by the state farmers would change the
suicides scenario, the Brahma Kumaris believe.
