Dear Saligaokaram, Dr.Vinita Naik is the daughter of Vishwas Naik Umbrascar, the retired sports teacher from St. Thresa's High School, Calangute. He also runs the general store and the govt. Fair Price Shop (rations), below Lourdes Convent.
Dr. Vinita is a practising Homoepath who, in 2010 passed out from Goa's reputed Shri Kamaxidevi Homoeopathic Medical College (SKHMC), in Shiroda. In 2011 she interned at the govt's. Asilo Hospital in Mapusa and then worked as a Resident Medical Officer at the SKHMC Hospital. At the moment she is looking out for a place in Saligao to set up her practice. *Vinita is also open to volunteering at least once a week to treat patients free of cost.* We need to encourage our young professionals, who besides needing to find employment in and around the village, also want to volunteer their skills to give back to Saligao. The Happy Saligao initiative that has 3 young women volunteering their counselling skills is an inspirational example of looking after the mental, emotional, psychological health of the village. Can we have a Healthy Saligao or Well Saligao parallel that will look after physical health of the village? Is anyone willing to temporarily lend Dr. Vinita a place to volunteer?
