Hey Rico, Ashley & Anthony, Thanks for all the information. The Saligao Institute is making a name for itself again eh? Great! I agree with Rico & Anthony about the old days, vis-a-vis the Saligao Institute......did the same, (but from the late 1960s) waited for Saturdays & any other day if we could get our hands on reading material & exhausted the Library too. Fiona & I literally "zoroied" the Arrarim Road from Peggy's Corner to the Institute. Couldnt forget the Sunday Jam Sessions during the May Season, & the Housie Sessions... the Whist sessions,........ Those were the Days! Congratulations to Brig. Ian & Team...... & all who helped in any way. Nice to hear about A.Isa Vaz - originally from Donvaddo..... as Clarisse (her fatherinlaw was also from Donvaddo) as also the well known artist......the list is a long one..... Talent??? Yeh, Donvaddo - once upon a time dubbed "dark continent" by the erstwhile "bright continent" of Arrarrkars ...huh! after all .....we had to cross "forests" & wade through "swollen streams/rivers"...there were no bridges...... All the best! Ta ra Annette (from Donvaddo)

She said the turnout for the club show has been very good, and they're looking forward to it. A lot of work has gone into the event, by the new team led by Brig. Ian. Great going from our veterans... and we do appreciate their efforts at keeping the Saligao Institute going. Despite all the odds... I recall my daily 'pilgrimage' to the club in the late 1970s, to read the Times of India (it came in a day late from Bombay) and the Illustrated Weekly of India (virtually the only magazine available, till India Today came on the scene). This played a key role in my life as a senior schoolboy or young collegian. If not mistaken, Saligaokars from Bombay and others had also donated a large library, which was something we loved accessing, and waited eagerly for each Saturday to get access to books from its shelves. There were only very few options available then. I also recall the drawing competitions, quizzes and debates we then had, together with sports outside the club balcony. If possible, the committee could approach parents and other educationists to restart such initatives. We gained a lot from these in our time!
