What more proof does one need than the video evidence of foreign nationals rioting - for whatever reason - while bringing the Home Ministry to its knees and the Home Minister to the streets! And maybe the accused in the videos are all innocent of rioting, till a witness is willing to depose in court, in order to get a conviction. No. The problem in this riot is not narcotics. Let us not mix issues, please. Narcotics is a completely separate issue that thrives because of the politician-police-underworld nexus. And the drug-underworld here consists of locals - Goan, Keralite, Kashmiri - together with mainly 4 foreign nationalities: German, Russian, Israeli, and Nigerian. This was not part of a narcotic gang war. The murder, maybe. But not the the totally insane violence of a small group of humans who went berserk. The suggestions in our mail were neither racist nor against any particular nationality. Every suggestion we made talks only of "all" those foreign nationals who live here illegally and those who run drug, paedophilia, male and female prostitution, gambling and other nefarious rackets. The problem here is not of narcotics but of foreign nationals taking law and order into their hands, when they as guests, should be following the law of the host country. There was a murder which they thought was not being investigated correctly: by all means protest. We encourage protest!...a morcha, a dharna, a hunger strike, even a fast-unto-death or 'rasta roko' on NH 17 at the same venue. Make your point democratically. Protest is a democratic right! But mindless violence? Look at this initial video, where 8-10 Nigerians brought Goa to a standstill! <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brZez-V1120> Attacking a police hearse, smashing its windshields and inflicting other damage to it? Pushing police constables around? Grabbing their 'lathis' and threatening them and the public at large? Destroying public property, road dividers and signage? Behaving lewdly in front of women police personnel? Jumping around, totally out of control, like they had completely lost their minds. Who and what gives them the right to attack Goa in this way? An all out assault on the enforcement machinery and personnel?...on the citizens of Goa?...on state property? On the state itself! > Let's not get carried away by media hype > What media? This and others are raw, amateur, citizen film clips. Scores of local citizens captured the action live on camera and uploaded it, unedited on YouTube, for all to see. Where is the hype? It is the truth, the plain truth and nothing but the naked truth without the usual frills and flounces used by the professional media to dress up the naked truth. and political bombast. > This is neither political-speak, which we abhor anyway! Ask any common Goenkar in the vaddo. Do a random survey...stop any local Goan on the street and ask just a simple question: "What do you think of what happened in Porvorim on 31/10?" In your question, do not use the words "Nigerian" or "foreigner." And then check for "media hype", "political bombast", racism or prejudice against a particular nationality. All over the world, you will get the same response from the common person, when outsiders come in and carry out an assault, the way they did on 31/10 in Porvorim. Warm regards and solidarity.
