Short of topics? Extraordinary, when we see what is going on around us. - Loss of the trees between the market and up beyond the crossroads - Widening of the road towards the hill: where will the widening stop? When all trees and walls are removed right through the village and up to the base of the hill? - What's the purpose? To make way for dump trucks? To increase the tourist traffic flow through the village; traffic that hits the sea not far away and can go no further? - How many dump trucks at first? And how many in 2, 5, 10 years time? There's the rub - Will the new disposal plant suffer degradation, after a year or two, as so many Goan public infrastructure installations seem to? - What becomes of "Saligao", and Saligao property values, once the name is synonymous with a rubbish dump? Verna has at least an industrial estate to associate with the name. But a rubbish dump, dump trucks, loose litter and very likely a poorly maintained disposal plant? And did anyone mention rats?
After hundreds of years of villagers developing this stunningly beautiful village fabric, once destroyed it's destroyed forever. .....Just my opinion as one fortunate enough to have been able to appreciate this lovely place for the past five years. -- -- Saligao-Net is at http://groups.google.com/group/saligao-net To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe email [email protected] --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Saligao-Net" group.
