July28, Saligao News. --Pay for Damages due to Power Failure: The matter was raised during Question Hour on 27th July when Saligao MLA Dr. Wilfred de Souza criticized the government for its apathy towards those affected due to power fluctuations that took place in June this year. He also told Mr. Kamat, the Power Minister, that at least people should know whom to complain to in case of any loss incurred due to power fluctuations even if the government had no provision to compensate for the losses.. When Dr. de Souza flayed the Government for not taking steps to lay underground cables in Saligao, the Power Minister assured him that the groundwork for the same would begin within a month. Mr. Kamat admitted that the process was tedious but agreed to a suggestion from Dr. de Souza to start preparing the plans for the same( Courtesy---Herald). ---Saligao MLA Dr. Wifred de Souza attacked the Government on Tusday for not being able to address the problem of the solid waste management in the State. He asked why government has not initiated the proposed project of setting up management unit in Bali and Colvale. “ The Waste Management report prepared by the earlier government has been gathering dust,” Dr. de Souza said, demanding to know why the initiative has been paralysed.
