ST ANNE’S CHAPEL---XI.

On 12th January, 1943 at 9.30 a.m. the warders under the Chairmanship of Mr. Vicente Xavier Bartolomeu Fernandes, met in the corridor of the chapel of St. Anne, affiliated to Saligao Church to deliberate the following:

  1. As the price of the cement is gone up very high, the façade of the chapel is not to be cemented for the time being, but only repairs to be carried out wherever it is necessary.
  2. The ceiling is to be repaired and oil painted.
  3. That the centenary of the construction of the chapel will be celebrated with a Triduum. The organization of the programme and its execution is left in charge of the Administrative Committee of the Chapel.
  4. 4) The necessary expenditure for the work mentioned in 1 and 2 be spent from the fund of the chapel and for the religious services of 3, a public subscription be made. If there is deficit, then, to take money from the chapel and if profit to enter it into the chapel fund.
  5. That the programme and annual feasts of St. Anne, St. Sebastian and St. Joseph in future be celebrated in the following manner.

  1. Nine sung masses of one priest will be celebrated during the Novena of St. Anne and salves in the morning except on the last day.
  2. The Vespers will be sung without angels
  3. The feast mass of St. Anne will be sung with acolytes and with sermon, followed by exposition, procession and benediction.
  4. Two low masses will be said on the feast day of St. Anne.
  5. During the novena of St. Anne, 10 candles will be lit, 6 on the banquette and throne and 10 near the images of the altar.
  6. Nine low masses will be celebrated of the novena of St. Sebastian and sung mass with acolytes on feast day followed by procession with the relic of the Saint.
  7. During the mass of the novena of St. Sebastian, 4 candles be lit, two on the altar and two near the image on the altar and during the feast mass 26 candles, 16 on the banquette and throne and ten near the images of the altar.
  8. On the evening of the feast of St. Sebastian there would be a sermon and the kissing of the relics of the saint.
  9. The feast of St. Joseph will be celebrated with a sung mass of a Priest lighting 6 candles on the banquette, four near the image of St. Anne and ten near the respective images on the altar
  10. During the novena of St. Anne, the choir master will sing the rosary of St. Anne before the novena mass.
  11. For the vespers and the feast of St. Anne and St. Sebastian three or more singers will form the choir and besides the violin of the choir master, two other violins and double bass, clarinet and flute.
  12. The feast of St. Anne will be celebrated on Sunday following 26th July and that of St. Sebasatian and St. Joseph on the following days respectively.
  13. That the old ‘ consignacao’( fees) of Rs. 55/ fixed in favour of the one who celebrates the feast( be he the President( Mordomo) or the ward people when there is no Mordomo) be maintained.

6. The Annual Feast of St. Anne, St. Sebastian and St. Joseph will be celebrated every year by one President ( Mordomo)if there is. If there is no President the feast will be celebrated by all the three wards collectively, each ward contributing a third part of the total expenses. In the last case the feast will be administered by a Committee of three persons each representing their respective wards which should be elected if there is no president( mordomo0 in the meeting called at the end of the year to judge the accounts.

7.That the Committee to celebrate the feast of the year 1943 consists of Mr. Luis Napoleao Vaz( Donvaddo), Mr.Francisco Xavier Fernandes( Mudd’davaddi) and Mr.Joao Baptista dos Remedios( Tabravaddo-Mollebhatt)……………….to be continued.
