For those nostalgic about the past, don't be too surprised to find a
nice posh new ground-plus-one structure in place of Dilip (Kamat's) old
shop when you visit there next!
My only regret is that I didn't click a photograph of the old shop
before it went down.
I remember Dilip's dad, Purso (short for Purshottam), who was also known
as 'Master', since he taught in the local Marathi school, who ran the
shop when I was a kid. Dilip's brothers -- Mahesh and Girish (Shyam) --
were in school with us, and with my unearthly (often nightly) hours and
shifts or late night walks I used to often run into his other brother
Nanda(kumar). Nanda still works at the MRF, and when he was young, used
to be a footballer for the village club. I think a lot of the
footballers were our local heros, and as schoolboys we really looked up
to them!
Anyway, do share your notes about your reminiscences about
Saligao, and the people and things that went into making it.
We also have space for happy memories here, not just sharing
our current day power, water-overwithdrawal, garbage,
deforestation-near-the-fountain problems (though we need to
discuss those issues too!)...
