Dear Friends
I really enjoy writing in this column. I wished others too would write like
our Fr.Nacemento Mascarenhas. I am really missing my childhood days. These
were the days without any tension and with complete freedom. We fought, made
friends, we teased etc etc. There was lot of honesty with us. I remember the
one roof houses in Sonarbhatt. There were several houses all in a row with
one roof on top. We used to play and dance and climb from one house and go
to the other .We used to play hide and seek. Sometimes when the owner came
home she found that we were thieves hiding in their houses and on seeing the
mauxi we used to run for our life as sometimes the mauxi's were very strict
but loving too. They would shout at us but if by chance they had to come
from a shop they would definetly have a sweet or two wrapped up in their
pallo and with the usual words Ge re baba he tujea tondant gal ::Take this
child and put it in your mouth ;;; were the words uttered by them. Most of
the time these houses had only one occupants. They were old ladies whose
sons were working in Bombay and they lived a lonely life .
