This is not an intelligent joke - I do not think this will classify as a
joke by reference to Kevin's link to Wikipidia but that's not going to stop
me sharing this with you.. Recycled from the net - please read in a humorous
vein
To appease people like Chris (Casti) and others who wish to be politically
correct and not make fun of the other communities - I have deleted the East
Indian and Manglorian versions of the "you know you are a ." which was
printed in our Club de Goa newsletter (Brisbane - Australia)
Got to tell you about the time I went dressed up as a "gauti" wearing a
"casti" for a CDG carnival dance a few years ago. Like some of the things
you do one off time - this was one for me!
Anyway - I am sure that quite a number of vintage readers (like myself,
Chris, Kevin? and possibly Annette) will identify with the penultimate line
below..
You know you are a Goan if...........
No matter where you go in the world you will find another Goan named
DaCosta, DeMelo, D'Souza, Fernandes, Monteiro or Rodrigues.
You have six middle names, most of which you can't pronounce.
You have annoying nicknames like Petus, Babush (or Busha, Bostiao, Forsulo
or Popot!
You are really confused if you are Portuguese..... Heaven forbid Indian!
You call everybody who is brown and not Goan "bingtakar" and make fun of
them in Konkani.
You interject "what", "men", and "re"(ray) in every line of your
conversation
You show you are listening to the conversation by saying "really?" or "you
don't say!"
You call an older person you've never met before "uncle" or "auntie"
Everyone is a family friend
One club (Club De Goa?) is not enough to cater to 10 Goans
Your family is fighting over property they inherited from someone else
Your mother has a minor disagreement with her sister and doesn't talk with
her for 10 years
You think you can sing
You make tea in a saucepan
You eat onions with everything
You get excited when "king fish" is mentioned
You eat last night's curry the next morning
You call mangoes by Portuguese names
You see pictures of the Caribbean and you say "it's just like Goa"
You get very upset when the airlines refuse to accept your luggage, which is
20 kg overweight.
You go back to Goa and people treat you like a member of the royal family
You are comfortable going back for a holiday in May just to sample the
mangoes, jackfruits, cantans, bibes, and the miscut.
You wash your butt quickly when you hear the pig grunting.. oink oink!!
Have a great day wherever you may be.

Subject: [Spam Score sssssss] RE: [SALIGAONET] good intelligent jokes???!!!
Oops! how misleading was the subject!
Dont know about fit or non-fit of caps, but I sure was anticipating a joke -
Saligao/Saliganvkar(s).
So Albert, are you going to relate a joke on the dug up roads vis-a-vis
underground cables - first village to have such etc. etc.? Or do we have to
wait for 2012? (next Elections).
& I agree with Albert, guess we should all strive to work for what we want
with whoever is on the job now that the elections are over. Get them to
make good their promises or whatever??? Hard task ......
Have a good weekend, I'll be starting a new week at my desk from tomorrow.
