the "To" box & Ashley & Rico kept telling me to "change" by deleting the relevant email address of Saligaonetter & insert saligaonet address.
I had talked (written) to Rico about this but it appears the powers that control SaligaoNet wish to reduce the CTF ratio by introducing an additional step if the respondent wishes the reply to go to the group. Ratio is currently way off but activity is what counts ;-)
Aha! was expecting Kevin's explanation - some scientific hifi mumbojumbo...hey hey! Annette knows only three English words secular & priest, combined Secular Priest - so 3 priests not 2.
Oh come on, Annette, it's time to broaden your horizons and look beyond the cassock.
Huh! science rules? gravity wins? check this one out then where gravity doesnt play a role & you know I'm quite light!!! - a sort of riddle-joke - an old one of course. What goes up but never comes down? - my age of course - wish gravity won in this case....
My my, you are going to need some sort of mental viagara to keep those neurons humming... 'haven't you heard the song... what goes up, must come down... spinning wheel ... going around...etc... etc
Yes I did, but you (or rather the Siolcars) seem to have celebrated the Feast of St. Anthony early - or is it that the social aspect comes earlier than the holy aspect. No high/concelebrated mass etc. etc. ? After all the Feast is on 13th....
Convenience? Oh yeah, they had the traditional service after which we even got 'chonne' with chunks of coconut!.... brought back memories of our days in Goa. I read through a small booklet on St. Anthony of Padua during the service and learnt that ONLY in Siolim is he depicted with a snake on a leash because of a miracle that killed a large cobra that was impeding the construction of the church. There's one you can take to the bank ;-)
So we have something in common, Kevin as I'm named after the Saint who is my Patron Saint. He worked his miracle immediately after I was born (or so my mum says) else wouldnt have been on this Saligaonet today.
Were you born a heretic? I must have because the ghost who carried me right after my birth couldn't find any stain of Original Sin on me :-) Shouldn't you be Antoinette then if St. Anthony is your patron saint? Or was it just too regal a name? You would have grown into it anyway... seeing as you are now the Prima Donna of SaligaoNet :-))) I really mean 'First Lady' as a compliment!
Oh you too Kevin? You found out that you are not a Goan (yeh I know you consider yourself Canadian but rootwise you are Goan or are you African?). Did you not meet any of the criteria as detailed in Louis mail?
I was referring to the Catholic part. I will always be a Goan regardless of my secular worldview. It's unfortunate that I have grown past my Catholic upbringing and religious views of most of my friends, relatives and ancestors but do not wish to propagate a backward mentality that fights against the normal tendency to evolve instead choosing to hang onto 2000 year old dogma that really has no place in today's society. I exhort my kids to be critical in their thinking regardless of what anyone, including myself, tells them. As for what I consider myself 'rootwise' .... you had to open that can of worms, didn't you. I loved and could identify with most of Louis' criteria for being a 'astli goinkar'. I am Kenyan by birth, Indian by ancestry with a Goan cultural heritage, Irish by first name, Roman by middle name and Portuguese by last name, Canadian by nationality and domicile, Catholic by baptism and Secular Humanist by intellectual conviction, vegetarian by evolutionary revulsion to cannibalism! And if you should know, We are ALL African! http://www.humanistperspectives.org/issue154/we_are_all_african.html Sincerely, Kevin ps. Did you know that 'im pecatus' - the root of impeccable in my signature quote - means 'without sin'? There's one for the 'holier' among you ;-) /ks -- Be impeccable with your word - Don Miguel Ruiz http://www.nderf.org/4AgreementsReview.htm _______________________________________________ Saligao 403511 website http://saligao.goa-india.org Saligaonet mailing list [email protected] http://lists.goacom.org/mailman/listinfo/saligaonet
