My friend in Madkai (Ponda) talks about unusual birds near their omes. Agri officer Miguel Braganza told me that he had seen peacocks n the Saligao hill (I've seen them at Aguada). There was even a wild at (some called it a leopard) seen at Miramar, and everyone was uzzled where it came from. The potential bad news is that this could be happening just because e, as humans, have been invading the natural habitat of these nimals. When an industrial estate comes up along Pilerne-Saligao, here do the foxes or jackals go? Madkai, mentioned above, is the home o another industrial estate. I'm not blaming industrial estates lone, because the hill areas, which were once informally reserved for he wilderness, today accomodate homes and flats and buildings, thanks o piped water making these areas "hospitable" for humans. So I'm not sure whether it's a good sign that we're seen birds and nimal life closer to us. Maybe someone better aware of this issue ould give us some insights.
