Create groups and sub-groups based on alerts (ie “Email only”, “SMS/Email”). Group your checks under the appropriate groups then create “Executive Alerts” (found under setup) to send the desired alert for an entry of the group which is down for the appropriate amount of time.
When it comes to changes, you change the alert for the whole group. I tried to do a global change ("Change Primary SMTP: Send mail to ...") and it changed all recipient names to the name I typed in. However, what I really wanted to do is to modify the condition that a person/group is being alerted for (ie. "when 1 times down" to "when 1 times down and when back up"). Is there a "copy and paste" feature for editing the alerts? We need to set-up a "model" alert and once we're satisfied with it, we'd like to replicate it.
