Announcing the new and funky highly technical magazine:

"Based on an idea..."

Coming soon...

Notice: please, keep this info TO THIS LIST ONLY!!! Don't tell anyone else
in the SAM world of it, not until we've got the first issue printed.

We're working on a new SAM fanzine, about 64 pages or so in length, chock
full of technical stuff, including software reviews, hardware reviews,
hardware projects, software trickery, how-to-program tutorials... basically
anything that teaches people how to DO THINGS with their SAM

The only thing is, we're looking for potential writers - especially the
Entropy bods...

Another thing to note is that this mag is nothing to do with either SAM
Prime or Format - it's a totally independent magazine. (apart from a few
common writers).

Planned features so far include:

An expose on the new Z380 chip, and what it can do...
Reviews of the SC_Disk Protector ("The best 15 quid I've ever spent" - Simon
Cooke),
Turbomon, SAM C...
Explanations of how to read the mouse, check for its presence, and how the
mouse interface works...
Bug fixes to SAM hardware...
And hopefully a Spec Tec (or equivalent) technical help page, without quite
as many jokes...

YOU NAME IT REALLY... if it's techy, or topical, or basically just a good
read, it'll be in it! (Book reviews, unless they're technical, will
not...)... We might even dissect the odd demo, and peruse the odd game every
now and then, in amongst the hardware projects too...

If anyone wants to put adverts in, get in touch - incredibly reasonable
rates (especially if you've dealt with Format before now)...

Launch date is hopefully the Gloucester show...

It's hopefully going to be a non-profit mag - it'll be quarterly, and
occasionally there will be a free diskette on the cover (or equivalent)...

Basically, it should be really brill... Format without the crap bits, and
SAM Prime with more technical trickery than it could ever hope to pull off.
And with a proper release schedule too!!!

It'll be 1.50 a copy, free copies to contributors... There might even be a
web version too... but don't hold your breath. (However, I can use Adobe
Acrobat, so that might be a format that people can read it in... hmmm...)

ps this is all provisional... just to get people thinking of ideas to put in
it... hell, I've just spent the last two or three days making up a new
Truetype symbol font for it... it'd better happen!!!
