That's typical, just sent the E-Mail and Issue 23 is on the mat waiting
for me. Great issue thanks Colin
Hi folks,
Sorry for being so quiet recently, if only there were more hours in the day
to get on with things!
The very, (very!) late running SAM Revival 23 was released back in April.
The coverdisk features Simon Owen's VIC-20 emulator and a few games, the
full SAM Adventure 'Survive the Night' from Hydrasoft and Thomas Harte's
latest 3D demo. (btw Thomas - fantastic work on releasing your 3D library!
I'll be in touch shortly about that just to get a bit more info for the news
in the next issue!).
Inside there magazine itself there's the news section, and in the Developer
Diary there's a look at the progress by Adrian Brown of porting a TCP/IP
stack to the SAM, Thomas covers the work on his 3D engine so far and I go
over the improvements I've made to the Trintiy version of B-DOS to give it a
bit of a speed boost when reading from SD cards. There's also source code
for the patched SAM ROM to auto boot from the Trinity.
This issue of SAM Revival costs £3.99 including UK postage, or £4.79
including EU postage. If you've never tried SAM Revival before and would
like to I'll knock a bit off for this issue - £2.99 (UK) or £3.79 (EU) -
drop me an email directly to order or see my website.
I'm now busy beavering away putting issue 24 together, and I'm aiming for
this issue to be released at the end of June/early July. So far lined up for
the coverdisk is 'The Witching Hour' by John Vincent, originally released in
1993. John as also painted a stonking cover for this issue!
Inside issue 24 the Developer Diary looks at Simon Owen's work on his newest
emulator, Rob Evans shows the behind the scenes work on his first SAM game
Wubtris and his plans for more SAM games. Following my editorial last issue
I've had a lot of feedback from readers (thank you!) so issue 24 is bursting
to the seams with both letters and input to the new 'Comment' section I
originally created in issue 23 as a back page filler! Also in this issue is
a look at what happened to Sandman's Shadow - the point-and-click style game
that was being developed by Gordon Wallis (it was briefly mentioned in the
SAM Centre section in the last ever issue of YS). Gordon's gone out of his
way to pass over the graphics and has taken photos of his developmental
sketches to make this a really indepth look at what was shaping up to have
been a SAM masterpiece.
All the best,
Colin
