As a point of note that is what LVM is for, the 20th century called and wants partitions back. Getting back on topic why not consider using registry based share definitions and make use of the available parameter. And then have Samba come up with the shares in "available = no" configuration, and when the script that mounts the disk is successful it updates the share definition so that it becomes "available = yes" using net conf?
