I tried that solution as well.  Although it helped my problem for a short
time, my pop server eventually started crashing again. Re-bricking is what
finally cured mine..

I have seen this issue a few times with older sambar release.. the problem
turned out to be a corrupted / messed up mailbox.. It was really hard to
track down because there was only 1-2 messages buried in the logs that
reflected the mailbox was screwed up when trying to write to it.. The result
of this hosed box was the the pop3-client would not disconnect and would
retry based on the clients settings.. After a period of time the client
would end up chewing up all of the threads.. Im sure a proper cleanup of the
threads would be the desired fix but in my case I just deleted and
re-created the mailbox and the thread problem went away..
