Peter, List, I promised I would report back on any findings with my weird thread issue and I think I have found it.. At least I hope so. Going on 3 days now with 0 connections hung..
After spending a bit of time with pop3 logs and smtp logs I found one very small error that appears to have created the bigger problem. POP3D [EMAIL PROTECTED] [xxxxxxx] [x.x.x.x]: Mailbox message 0 [pos 1] is invalid [DELE] This error within this one mailbox appears to have caused the END USER pop3 to error but not close the connection.. Over a period of time this user would chew up all of the pop3/threads on the server... Increasing the threads just seemed to prolong the hang but would eventually reach the limit. All along I could tell what IP address had "most" of the hung connections but because this is a NAT point at a office in front of 30+ users, I had no idea which real user was hanging it. I have since deleted and re-created this users mailbox and the hung connections seemed to have stopped.. This was clearly not a Sambar issue because even the OS showed the sessions pending. Probably more Outlook madness. Glad I didn't cloud Tod with this issue ;) As my lesson learned, be sure to pay close attention to the errors in your logs.. Not just the ones with MANY entries, but also those hard to see ones. Danny ------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe please go to http://www.sambar.ch/list/
