Hi Ulf, did you mean this thread: https://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg01073.html
Yes!
In one of your postings you mentioned this site: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/sane_Troubleshooting#Brother Following this advice I did: 2001 ls -l /usr/lib64/libbr* 2002 ls -l /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu 2003 sudo nano /etc/udev/rules.d/59-udev-local.rules 2004 cat /etc/udev/rules.d/59-udev-local.rules 2005 sudo ln -sfr /usr/lib64/sane/libsane-brother* /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane 2006 sudo service udev restart 2007 simple-scan simple-scan starts and detects my Brother DCP-7010. Starting the scan-process a paer appears on the screens with circles moving around but then the message appears: could not connect to scanner. No solution, sorry.
Sorry from my side too. It worked for me as described in the thread with a fresh install of Ubuntu 18.04. I too installed ubuntu-unity-desktop and worked from that surface. -Ulf
