Hello, First, I thought to downgrade support tag of this device from :good to :basic or even :minimal. But, after second thought I assume that your device may be broken. IF image is shifted (cut above but empty band IS below) THEN it is probably not driver problem, but device problem.
Your device may be damaged (or somehow lost calibration) after transportation. Test the scanner in Windows on desired resolutions. If it does not have have same problem under Windows, test again under Linux if problem persists.
