is entitled to their interpretation to some degree, we are supposed to grow

I do not pretend to be a Vedicist, or even a proficient Sanskritist; no
doubt my attempted rendering of these Vedic verses is full of ludicrous
errors. I only submit this in the hope that I may be able to stoke up
some dialogue about Vedic, since I seem to be the only person at this
university, at least, who is trying to read Vedic. I hope that I may
profit from the corrections and suggestions made by listmembers who
know more than I do.

I have been thinking of writing an abbreviated version of my customary
caveat, or leaving it off altogether and just sending the verses. But
when I began this project, one correspondent thought my interpretation was
so irresponsible and potentially harmful that he urged me, if I would not
stop altogether, at least to preface every verse with an advertisment of
my status as an amateur. But by now everyone on the list probably knows
that I know I am not a great paNDita.
