Comments - vinidrAm is used twice. One I have

translated as awake and the other as without sleep. What could be purastree?

shringeri where shankara installed sharadaa is

actually on the river tungA. It becomes tungabhadra after bhadra joins tunga near
Shimoga. Probably shankara must have reached some place on the bank of tungabhadra and
then travelled upwards though its bank to reach

shringeri. He would not have known that it is called tunga there.

As per Ambujam Raman's suggestion I have

slightly revised the translation of Shloka 1 as follows.

  1

  suvakSojakuMbhAM sudhApUrNakuMbhAM

  prasAdAvalaMbAM prapuNyAvalaMbAM

  sadAsyendubiMbAM sadAnoSThabiMbAM

  bhaje shAradAMbAM ajasraM madambAm

  je zarda<ba< Aj< mdMbam!.

With pot-like breasts and a pot full of nectar,

Full of kindness and extreme holiness,

With a moon-disc face and gift giving cherry-fruit lips,

I worship shaaradaambaa, ever my ambaa.

What could be purastree?

puras + tri = purastri taaM (the 'i' gets lengthened and I do not remember the rule)
Devi is the master of the tripuraM (note used in the singular!)and is hailed as
tripurasundari.

purastrIM vinidrAM = she who is awake in the tripura (Sri-Vidya knowledgables can
explain the mystic significance!)

bravo!

The last portion is
na kinchit = nothing

avadet = said

If I may take a poetic liberty I will say 'vishadAM damaM k^R' (elaborate with
firmness)( or change 'da' to 'ma') which yields,

vishadArthikAM = elaborate meaning (vishada + arthikAM)

to

vishamArthikAM = tricky meaning (vishama + arthikAM)

That would fit in wonderfully with Sita's responses.

kShamyataaM! ;-)
