Reg. >> la, Da, zh, etc. (genius of the individual language) - etc....<< the
maxims like - 1] vabayorabhedaH; 2] ra Da layorabhedaH - may be remembered
which extend to La and Da as in agnimiiLe... This La kaara is not just in RV
mantra 1, but we hear it otherwhere also, for eg, in mahaanaaraayaNopanishad -
eka niilLam for eka niiDam. This is specified as chaanadasa on par with
gamakam, and certain other prolonged intonations like siiksha - in siiiikshaam
vyaakhyaasyaamaH etc.

The original question of Srikanth is >> Is the
consonant "La" [as used in "Agni MeeLe" in Rigveda
Mandala 1,] part of the list of alphabets? - Yes La is another consonant after
soft la, whose Itrans is L / Ld. But this La - kaara is slowly loosing its tone
in daily usage - excepting in dravidian languages. Two other vowels alu, aluu
- whose Itrans is L^i / LLi, L^I / LLI - and this is to be employed to write
klipta - kL^ipta, are totally lost in usage even in draviDa writings. We
generally say this as klupta but it is kli`pta - Srikanth may refer to Itrans
encoding scheme.
