Jai Ramji Ki!
The bhuH bhuvaH and svaH are part of the vyAhR^iti, or the worldy expansions.
Of course, there are four more lokas (total seven): mahaH janaH tapaH and
satyaH. In some traditions, all seven are said as part of the gAyatrI mantra.
Regards,
Dhruba.

At the time of pranayama the following part is recited -
Om Bhuh Om Bhuvah Om Suvah Om Mahah Om Janah Om Tapah Om Satyam
Before Gayatri mantra the recitation is Om bhurbhuvassuvah, Then the three
lines of gayatri follow.
Note -
The word is Satyam and not Satyah.
Another word is Suvah and not svah

Dear All,
I visited Sanskrit Bharati's Jhandewalan New Delhi office on 9th August. It
was a new and mind boggling experience for me. All the members of the staff
there were speaking Sanskrit in proficient and efficient manner, that too
with arrestingly fascinating ease.
This is an unique experience for me. I am sure, if the tempo is sustained
for a decade, Sanskrit speaking population can be expted to increase many
fold.
Let me introduce myself also. I am Suresh, 49, working in Central
Government, office located in New Delhi, residing in Sonipat (Haryana). I
have been watching and studying birds since 1975 and can identify around 800
species of birds in northern India.
Kind regards,
Suresh C Sharma

The granthi (knot) is obviously the upamAnam (simili) used.
Let me try....
Bhishma is saying...
ime bANAH = These arrows
arjunasya, na shikhaNDinaH = are Arjuna's, not SikhanDi's.
cchindanti mama gaatraaNi = they are tearing by limbs
maaghamaase gavaam iva = like the sun's rays in the month of February
when heat starts rising, but is not much.
doesn't make much sense because arjuna's arrows are supposed to
be much more painful.
Another meaning (my imagination running really wild now :-)
magha = gift, present
gavaam iva = cows
maaghamaase = in the gift-giving season
Does it mean that cows that got gifted recently will be very violent
because they are not used to their new master?
- Sai.
