Yes. I think I have come across this word. Though I can't seem to figure out
what will be the root-verb but this word is fine.

dear list members,

I hope my reply is not too far away from the list purpose.

"srii amuthan arunkumarji,

I am not sure if you are using the skt package in the correct way.
The instructions are given in the sktdoc.ps file in

http://www.tug.org/tex-archive/language/sanskrit/

As it says, a file with a .skt extension has to be first written with the
usual latex preamble etc ( your {\skt raama} goes in the body of the Latex
document). This has to be "preprocessed" into a .tex file using the command
:

skt inputfilename.skt outputfilename.tex

the outputfilename.tex is the tex file on which you should use commands like
latex , pdflatex etc not the one before preprocessing.

Without processing the {\skt raama} indeed produces something that looks
like "rma".

my 2 cents,

regards,
shyam

Yes, I'm using the skt package with LaTeX. I have no problems using it.

My example looks like this and works fine:

<----- snip snip --->
\documentclass[10pt,a4paper]{article}

\usepackage{skt}

\begin{document}

{\sktx Raama } and {\skt raama} both are working fine.

{\skt .r.si} or {\skt .r.si} both look good as well.

\end{document}
<----- snip snip --->

I used the preprocessor to prodcure the .tex file:
skt raama.skt
and then I called pdflatex to produce the pdf file:
pdflate raama.tex

Did you do anything similar and did you receive error messages during
font creations? What operating system are you using?
