Sir,
I was referring to the dictionaries compiled by Vaman Shivram Apte of Pune.
The first edition came in 1890 according to the introduction to the book by
V.S.Apte.
I do not know who was the 1st publisher. Now it is published by Motilal
Banarasidass, originally of Lahore, now in Delhi.
I was using Devasthali's Student's dictionary. When I started reading the
Upanishands, I felt, I needed a more comprehensive dictionary. I then got
V.S.Apte's dictionaries both Sanskrit>>English and English>>Sanskrit. Both have
very competently met my requirements.
This is the first time that I have come to know of a dictionary compiled by
another Apte i.e. M.V.Apte.
KOSHAs seem to be in the Apte blood.
If you could kindly let me know about its availability, I would certainly like
to refer to it.

Thanks please write to me if there are any errors still in M V Apte's
dictionary. They need to be rectified. Also please be candid about your views
on Mr M V Apte. The dictionary was published under the auspices of my
Grandfather Sir N W Hirwe in 1893. Bharatratna MM Dr P V Kane, a close family
friend, has gone through the works of M V Apte several times during his 23
years of writings History of Dharmashastra Five volumes last of which was
published in 1956 By BORI. I have been using the dictionary for many years as a
standard reference.
However, since knowledge blossoms in doubt, criticism is welcome . I would
like to know if there is anything amiss in the digital version of the
dictionary as is now available in the public domain. As a researcher in
Indology I have used the dictionary without encountering difficulty . In my
opinion it is one of the carefully handled project but as I said you will only
help the Indologist and researchers, scholars in various fields by sharing your
knowledge. Please feel free to write on the above address. I will attempt to
seek few expert advises and correct the mistakes if any.

After I received your mail, I have checked with some other dictionaries
also.
They also give KIM as both as a pronoun- Sarvanama- and as an indeclinable
- Avyaya - .
I would also request you to refer to PANKTI Nos. 2837 and 2858 in
NANARTHAVARGAH and AVYAYAVARGAH respectively of the AMARAKOSHA
You may not like that KIM is also an Avyaya but no purpose is served by
your bad-mouthing APTE.
There is no SANSKRTI and RIJUTA in bad mouthing.
APTE has been recognized as an authority on these matters including PANINI
since he published his dictionary in the year 1890 A.C.
Still nobody is beyond making mistakes.
If APTE had made any slips the publisher MOTILAL BANARASIDASS would have
certainly eliminated them in the several revised editions with the help of
learned persons like you.
If in your opinion it still contains some more mistakes kindly advise the
publisher for the benefit of the wide spread users of this dictionary.
You may be doing a great service to the Sanskrit lovers.
A thought may kindly be given to this.
But if you do not, Tatah Kim ( Then What ).

Thanks but i want to tell you that about vyakaranam Apte is not as a
Pramana. Panini is the only pramana, and what i wrote was according to Panini
also there are so many mistakes in Aptes Dictionary.

and for Gallery there are words like Deergha,Veethi, Alinda, Alanda, Varanda.
KALAPRDARSHINI is the word commonly used.

If our members are interested to read VRmn in Sanskrit in prose form, in deva
naagari script, there is a version of this. But, only two kanda-s bala and
ayodhya are available at this url. This is rendered in prose by Sri Kaluri
Hanumanta Rao during 1997
