Though I know a bit of Sanskrit, I am incompetent in Hindi; and at 68, have
not time enough to learn it.
I have an interesting book called <nyAyokti koza>, Nyayokti Kosha, which is
a collection of 320 short examples of nyAya illustrations [like the *
kAkatAlIya* crow landing on the tree branch and getting hit on the head by a
falling coconut, a wonderful instance of karma!].The book is mostly Hindi,
with Sanskrt quotations.
I would be willing to pay a fair price to someone who knows English and
Hindi [I can manage the Sanskrt], to send me an English translation. I can
arrange for my bookseller to send a copy.

Dear All,
We have Shad-Darshan in Indian Philosophy. One of them is Kapil Muni's Sankhya
Darshan. There are many Books on Sankhya Darshan too. I am looking for Sankhya
Darshan and Tattwasamas. The book must have Sanskrit Text together with
commentary In Hindi or Marathi. Can anyone suggest books on these subjects?
Also let me know if there are web pages.

My name is Nelly. A woman named Nandu was nice enough to direct me to this
Sanskrit network. I do not know anything about Sanskrit. I am an artist and
working on a project. I was wondering if someone could help with some words. I
was able to find the word child (female) and child (male) written in Sanskrit,
but is there a form written that is unisex. I also wanted to write the word
?safe? written in Sanskrit. I found safety, but I would rather have the word
?safe?.

do u know the veda word DHARMO RAKSHATI RAKSHITAH.so the
meanig is do your deeds for duty(dharma)than the dudes of dharma will protect u
by the bad things of thoughts.the word is KSHEM.

ATISHAYOKTI / Hyperbole is a figure of speech in Sanskrit as also in English.
It is not exaggeration
It has been used widely to give emphasis to a particular quality e.g.
- Chandramukhi for a girl with a beautiful round face.
- Ratnashila for marble
- Ratnadeep for a fluorescent tube lamp.
- Gandharva for an accomplished singer with a beautiful voice as in
Bal-Gandharva, Savai-Gandharva, Kumar-Gandharva,
Chhota-Gandharva
- Purushasimha for a lion hearted man
etc.
I have seen some people being revered by their followers by calling him 108 X
Shri or even 1008Xshri.They are probably saving the labour of writing Shri 108
or 1008 times.
I think that is only multiplication not an ATISHAYOKTI / Hyperbole in the real
sense.
