| Duties & Responsibilites : | Position Description:
The resource selected for this contract will manage a variety of MDOS technology projects. The primary project this position will manage is our Business Application Modernization project that is currently underway and extremely complex. The complexity is due to many factors, including: project scope, multiple sub-projects, running dual systems, multiple vendors/agencies, as well as the overall project duration. We are looking for an experienced and seasoned project manager who can come in and provide value very quickly. The other projects vary from legislatively mandated system changes, to systems engineering efforts to modernize MDOS applications, to system enhancements and improvements. This project manager is responsible for ensuring that the projects adhere to State of Michigan standard methodologies including the State Unified Information Technology Environment (SUITE), Systems Engineering Methodology (SEM), and Project Management Methodology (PMM). Provide project management services for successful completion of all projects assigned on behalf of MDOS. Assigned projects may already be in-process or newly assigned. For in-process projects, this project manager will take over responsibility to successfully complete remaining work in requirements, planning, design, control, programming changes, Unit & System Testing, User Acceptance Testing, and Implementation.
Skills Required:
Nine years’ documented experience leading and managing technical IT projects/programs.
Nine years’ experience developing IT project documentation including project charters, plans, risk plans, communication plans, and resource plans.
Nine years’ experience in developing and maintaining detailed project schedules using MS Project.
Nine years’ experience using industry standard methodologies:
? SDLC (System Development Life Cycle)
? PMM (Project Management Methodology)
? SEM (Systems Engineering Methodology)
Nine years’ experience executing, monitoring, and controlling IT development projects.
Skills Preferred:
Knowledge of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) preferred.
Experience Preferred:
Nine years’ experience supporting a project/program control/management office preferred.
Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree
Education Preferred:
PMP certificiation
Additional Information:
The objectives for a few potential projects associated with the responsibilities of this position are:
Business Application Modernization:
Participate with a team of PMs from MDOS, DTMB and the current project vendor to ensure deliverables and timelines are met.
Informix Modernization Project:
Ensure that the current software platform (Informix) is rewritten to align with DTMB standards for application development.
Inventory System Upgrade:
Ensure that the current software platform (Oracle) is upgraded to ensure that we are on a supported version of Oracle and that the application is migrated to new hardware. New License Plate Project: Ensure that the design, code development, inventory, and sale of new license plates are successfully implemented. In addition to the above mentioned projects, the resource selected will also work on other projects as assigned by the Michigan Department of State. |
