HATE CRIME UPDATE: A trial is set for George Petroski, one of two defendants, that beat four South Asian men with beer bottles in November 2002. The attackers asked the victims if they were the Taliban and told them to go back to their country. Petroski is charged with aggravated battery and a hate crime and will face trial on April 27, 2004. The other defendant, Joesph Gutierrez pled guilty on January 15, 2004, resulting in probation and community service.
