JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
MIRTA RAMIREZ COMPUTER SCIENCE CHARTER SCHOOL
TITLE: COMPUTER EDUCATION TEACHER (Charter High School)
REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL
POSITION SUMMARY: Provide direct instructional services to
students attending an innovative inner-city charter high school in
Chicago that integrates technology, project-based learning,
critical thinking and problem solving skills with culturally
relevant and adult-world connections.
RESPONSIBILITIES
*Develop curriculum to teach computer science, working with other
teachers to create integrated curriculum units.
*Work with teaching teams to help develop a learning environment
that encourages and motivates the student to learn.
*Encourage and enforce the school behavior and attendance policies.
*Meet with students, parents, teachers and counselors as
appropriate.
*Maintain and report accurate student records (attendance, progress
reports and grades).
*Document any inappropriate behavior and report it accordingly.
*Attend staff meetings, in-services, open houses, parent
conferences, and other activities.
*Display the highest ethical and professional behavior, standards
and judgment.
*Maintain positive, cooperative, and mutually supportive
relationships when working with students, parents, school
personnel and agencies associated with the school.
QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a Bachelor�s Degree in Computer
Science, M.A. preferred. Illinois teaching certification or
completing certification program. Experience working with inner
city, at-risk youth in a school. Ability to relate well to
students, staff, administration, parents and the community.
Bilingual/Bicultural (Spanish/English) a plus.
