Thanks for the clues. I played around with the "log on as" settings on both
the SAP DB and XSERVER services, changing them to log on as administrator,
but it had no effect. I still get the same error. So, I am at an impasse
with this project at this point.

I did notice in the installation logs that I got the following error: "Can't
open registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAP DBTech": Invalid
argument" quite often. Is this something should be worried about or is it
irrelevant?
