Hello Edo, hello Manfred, yes it's possible to run different versions of SAP DB on same machine. the independent programs (in indep_prog tree) are downward compatible and must have at least the version of the newest db kernel.
rpm: you have to install sapdb-ind (7.4), sapdb-srv and sapdb-srv74. result is the following directory structure: /opt/sapdb/indep_prog/... (independent programs 7.4) /opt/sapdb/depend/... (kernel 7.3) /opt/sapdb/depend74/...
