  I believe that the first initial step will be to make SAP DB understand the
  MySQL client protocol. Tighter integration will come later.

  However, on this point, I have not had a good discussion with the developers
  who will be doing the work, so I am not sure. :) I will add this to my list
  of questions to be definitively answered.
