actually satchmo is next on my todo list after I finish the one I am doing now. 
I personally feel that the fewer the .po files the better. What you save in 
avoiding duplication for the translator and across the files is about the same 
as what you gain in having shorter .po files for the split off projects. 
Anyway, 
the programmers are the best judges of that. And 4 is anyway better than 24.
