I'll chime in here as well. I went looking for hacker spaces about a month ago and came across saturday house. It looked cool but never got around to coming down because I couldnt tell if there was anything happening anymore.
The need for sponsorship was a little off putting as well. I got the impression everyone is busy with thier various projects and the group wasnt looking for more people to join. But from this thread it seems I was wrong. Personally, I'm currently interested in E-bikes, alternative transportation, led lighting, etc...I'm currently building an electric unicycle. I've got a background in electronics, but am a programmer by day. Anyway, heres hoping Saturday House thrives...it sounds like a cool place to be collaborate on projects.
