I have a job, and I really need to work at it.

I shouldn't have written this email. However, I have, and here it is.

  ...

I wish I could describe my perspective right now; What Saturday House
has been, visions of Spiriata, countless memories from Damanhur,
flashes of Bral Talej cards, Mars Hill, Clearwater, Twin Oaks; What's
in my head, and what's here in the mailing list are dancing around one
  another.

This is clearly what the Damanhurian's call a Synchronic moment.
Clearly, too, Saturday House needs direction.

Further, I need to get home, so that I can go to bed.

I have doubts about the vision that I have spoken so far, and clearly,
the list is in need of healing.

Saturday House will be neither what it has been, nor will it be what I
have imagined it to be, up to this moment. It will be something
  better.

  1. I am captain of this ship. Rule 6 simply means that people
recognize that I am captain of the ship. If I say "No," it means,
"We're not doing that." If I say "I need you to do this," it
means that you should do it. Punctuality is very important,
      otherwise these things won't work.

I can see a path where -- if we exert a lot of effort, we can
establish a very different kind of governance in our future,
reflective of the kind of governance we would like to see in the
world at large. But we will need to get there.

1 1/2. A bit of clarification, in case anyone is confused: We are
explicitly NOT plotting overthrows of the government, or
anything like that. Participation in Saturday House has
ALWAYS been, and always WILL be purely voluntary.

  2. A question:

Is the reaction against the law a reaction against the CONTENTS of
the law: "we don't speak against high ideals" -- or rather, is it
a reaction against the idea of rules at Saturday House all?

If Saturday House is to be bent according to a vision, then I need
to be able to make some hammer marks on it. High ideals is part
      of this.

  3. This "new vision" is not actually very new; It is only *slightly*
different than Saturday House's original vision. The strategy,
however, is radically different, and based in things learned in
the last 2 years. Bring your projects, your ambitions, your
interests; But not only these- also, your hearts, and your sincere
      presence.

  4. Mike Begley is right about projects and work items.
      We'll start with:
      1. Finding Saturday House locations to use on Saturday.
      2. Communication of Vision.
      3. Experiment with different ways of structuring our Saturdays,
based on feedback and ideas from everybody. Remember: Many
failures will come, but we will find what works.
      4. Remaking the website to reflect our change. Artwork, text,
the page structures, and web serving.
      5. Establishing dues. They will be light, to begin with. Dues
are proportional to the degree of participation someone wishes
to engage. And if you have no money, of course, you shouldn't
pay anything. Visitors and people investigating are requested
NOT to pay dues. Regulars who are not involved in running
Saturday House will have a *light* dues request.
      6. Collecting posters, books, even comics that are representative
of what we hold in our hearts. Please, bring what is dear to
          you. (*)

  5. THERE ARE NO PROFESSIONALS HERE. I am a captain, but don't
mistake my "captaining" for professionalism. I don't know that
there even *is* a profession for what I am doing. We need to hear
many ideas, and try many things. We will develop understandings,
over time, from our experiments -- this is good. We will fail
many times, I am sure. But it will be exciting; An adventure.

Do you feel that knot in your stomach?

It means that we're going to do something very, very different.
