What kind of application do you have in mind? Wouldn't it work to use a
compound external process that uses {{{sox}}} for resampling before piping
the data to another process? And, if there is really a need for a new
feature, I guess that it would also be useful to
{{{output.icecast.external}} and {{{output.file.external}}}.
In any case, I'm not sure that we should rush into that one, the buffering
and resampling are meant to be factorized in dedicated operators in the
future (we are currently in the process of designing the required
technology). For example, we'll soon have sources that carry stereo audio
cohabiting with sources carrying mono, with conversion operators. However,
I was thinking of keeping the same sample rate everywhere for simplicity,
and I'm interested to see if you really need that conversion here. For
example, does it work for you to change the global samplerate
({{{set("frame.samplerate",44100)}}} with your desired value of course)?
