I'm actually still wondering about this global root style (I asked that
question when I removed the noalloc mode). Why do we use global roots and
don't declare CAMLparams as with all other C bindings? (IIRC, Sam said he
saw no reason.)
I had started switching to the more usual style but, for the example I was
considering, it didn't change much (I still had occasional segfaults). It
might be interesting that you try it on your example: if it significantly
reduces faults, and we have no reason to use the funny global root style,
let's revert to CAMLparams.
