Hi Romeo,
Thanks for your detailed report. Good to see your nice script that
uses several special features of liquidsoap. I don't see any mistake
in that script, so I don't know why liquidsoap streams silence. Let us
try to clarify/simplify your problem, then..
First, when you say that liquidsoap generates no sound, you mean that
there is an icecast stream, but it is silent, right? And this for both
your ogg and mp3 outputs, which would mean that it's not an encoding
error.
In your log, indeed we can see that the playlist source keeps running,
playing songs. It also updates its playlist every 180 seconds. It
seems a bit too much, especially since you have 380 files in that
playlist. Could you try to reproduce the problem without the playlist
reload, or a less frequent reload at least. It should not create
silence instead of music, but it's a stressful thing to consider -- if
the reload turns out to be the source of your problem then it's a bug
that we should report and fix.
Another thing that you can simplify in your script is the live inputs.
The input.http() polls and fails a couple times every minute. Again,
it should not be the source of your problem, but removing it would
simplify the issue and clarify the log. (In production, you might also
want to avoid these polls by stopping the input.http() via a
server/telnet command and restarting it only when the DJ connects.)
In the log, I see no message ("switch to ...") from the fallback()
which means that all this time it's only the playlist playing. So the
live inputs should really be out of the story. But all these operators
send tasks to a global scheduler, create load, so a (bad) interaction
is still possible...
To conclude, I don't even suspect the origin of your problem. If you
can reproduce it with a (much) simpler script it would be cool. You
can also try with a static playlist that would only contain a few
files around 3:15 when the silence started -- how do you know by the
way?
Good luck,
--
David
