Hi Romeo, (Please send your replies to the savonet-users list, that I put back in Cc.)

Ok so silence is streamed, with metadata. I don't think that it's an encoding problem because it's on both vorbis and mp3 outputs, and I can't imagine that it's a libshout problem. As you say, it could be a bad design of the transition that leaves some silence instead of the new track... but your script seems correct from that point of view. One way to make sure that your raw stream is silent is to insert a vumeter() operator, that would be useful to check. The "strange behavior" is in fact normal: the transitions do not use the estimated remaining time, so at the switch() level it does not know that it's about to end. There is an experimental feature (the parameter "before") for doing that, but it probably won't work for you. If you really want a transition you can try something based on cross(), like smooth_add() in utils.liq... that's another topic that we should discuss separately. > in fact i set this interval specially - i'm building web interface to manage > playlists (later it will include some features to use ratings for songs in > playlist. so users can vote for or against the song that is playing now. as > liquidsoap doesn't have possibilities to interract with php directly - i > decided to build playlists dynamically from database. Yes it should work. It's meant to support any reloading interval. But, make sure that you also know request.queue() and request.dynamic() as they are more typically used in interactions with external scheduling systems like your planned PHP system.
