Could this conversion be global in nature? What I mean is I would run the
conversion at the top of the daily scripts. If the stream was already mono
nothing would be done. Otherwise, it would do the conversion with mean as
the kicker.

I've just spent most of the day, converting some manually but I still get
'incompatible number of channels'. I have have no way of easily checking
whether they actually have been converted, but judging by earlier efforts,
they have. So, why am I getting these errors for each of the previously
stereo file now mono?

It's a pity that so many changes were made in basic formats from 0.92 to  
1.0.0.
It' become a chore to do the changes, check the logs, and try to figure  
what's up.
Too bad it wasn't a rainy afternoon! :)

Still have got the ogg syntax sorted out - so I disabled both of them.
