Greetings Jonneth, I love Salukis... well that's the way we used to spell them, grins... and actually owned a mix in the early 70's. Loved reading about sighthounds but never thought I'd own one again until I met the SCA. Now I have a Greyhound, Boss. Since my persona is Middle Eastern, I am entertaining the notion to acquire a Saluki as my next sighthound hound. Also, I ride horses and need a trail hound with a bit more endurance than my delicate Grey. You mention below your research. Could you share your resources so I may increase my knowledge base?
Estrella's lure coursing was hosted by myself. My lord and I have set up the course and run it now for the last 3 years. The activity was never posted in the gatebook, but this year I think it will be. We set up on the main battlefield "C" in the morning before it gets used for swordplay. All hounds are welcomed the Estrella park and to have a try at chasing the lure. We give them as many chances to learn as we have time for. No color silkies are required, MOF, I course my Grey naked. Making yourself a slip collar will make you self sufficient as I have only 2 to share. Please come out and help us set up, stretch hounds and marshal the course, i.e., keep the spectators from aimlessly walking through the course. Lady Christian will be helping this year. She is from Caid and courses the "mad" Ludwig the Whippet.
