And how do you prove the could??? Only by getting the animal out and 
coursing it--in the Good Ol USA that is generally the mid to western 
states where you can course jacks/coyotes...Or if you have whippets a 
300 yard flatish field (and I could get down and kiss the ground that 
we have such an easy breed test!)

The bull**** stops when the running starts.That is the problem with 
so many of todays breeds--they are bred to look like they could with 
little or no attempt to field test the theory. Look at the big 
division between field dogs and show dogs in most breeds--it is quite 
sad. And the AKC greys trying to separate themselves from the track 
lines--even sadder.

If we are trying to recreate a 'Period' coursing/trailing/earthing 
etc etc event we might be wiser to go by phenotype in allowing dogs 
in....so no Wolfhounds in tunnels and no Teckles on the field....
