Not in Salukis, as a rule.  I had someone smartly point out that live  prey 
differs for some of the more ancient breeds because of the scent/sight  factor. 
 It's not the chase they like, but the hunt.  A plastic lure  (or anything 
short of a steak for my 2 piglettes) doesn't give them the total  satisfaction. 
 
I do practice with them madly, running around with lures and  bags and such 
-- but they prefer something they can eat, I think.
