Don't read my bantering wrong, as its so easy to do in emails when you don't see the person with a "Cheshire Cat grin" typing on the other side ;-)
The first SCOA National I went to had a smoothie win BIS, BOS, WB, WD, and several of the AOM's. They are gaining in popularity, but at the same time that I see the fad of the cream-fuzzies, I see the trend of the too-tall 'luki's and the fad of 'so little feathering they're practically a smoothie'. Now this is just -ME- but when I see a fuzzie, I want LONG hair on the ears, LONG hair on the tail, britches, and feathering on the front legs. http://community.webtv.net/CBDSaluki/Sakeri look at Sakeri's father, mother, grandparents on his site- THAT is what I like. If you met those Saluki in person and felt them, you'd know they weren't "just sissy show dogs" either. He has strong coursing blood in his background, and I have personally met/felt those dogs- brick irons for muscles, very well built. My webtv webpage builder doesn't do them justice to thier in-person selves. I have see the show dogs you talk about... they only "look" good. I agree, a dog who shows should look the part, feel the part, and be able to fullfill the part on the field. Granted there are the hounds, like Sakeri, who choose not to chase plastic... but put a skin on the line, or add a bit of rabbit-scent to the bags, oh yes, he'll chase it then. Common trash bags? He knows they're bags, why chase trash? For his lack of lure coursing, he makes up for it in Therapy work, and I'd much rather have him making a child at Childrens Hospital smile than bringing home a FCh' ribbon any day. but that's just me ;-) Jennifer and the "Half Tailed Pack" ~CBD Therapy Dogs~ Its amazing how one being can change the course of your life forever... http://community.webtv.net/CBDTherapyDogs/doc http://www.GRR-Adopt.org ------------------------ Yahoo!
