Yeah, by hiding the DNS on Scalr, it probably removes an important fail point that I might be experiencing, I'm not sure. Though I should say that the zone gets created quite properly on my off-site DNS server, and everything works beautifully on that end - as I was mentioning, the instances go so far as to get to the login screen of each one - it's just that they don't seem to pick up their own status afterwards.
