My previous setup is scalr on the same machine w/ DNS server.
But haven't tried a DNS server on separate machine.

When these instances can't get status, they are restarted by the
scalr
server after few second defined in your Settings->Core Settings-
>Application
settings.

In my case I've set the Event Handler URL and Server IP to scalr
server IP.
I assume you've snmp are installed on your machine.
