Of course it does. At Tufts the picture the students get taken for their security ID are automatically available for the class lists as well. So I download my class lists before the first lecture to memorize their names. And since I see the picture, I also have a good idea how they look. Students feel good, when you are able to say hello John the first time you meet them.
