Hi!

Recently, I was asked if it is possible to make Scid a
"portable app". Now, Scid is already such a thing as only
the windows stuff requires magic to run from any path.
Hence, I replied that it's enough to just unzip the ZIP
distribution to the medium and one is done.

However, there's a slight point. If the medium in question
is read only (say a CD-ROM), two problems arise.

- Books: I do not know much about Scids book features, but
it seems that the books require to live in a rw file
system. If this is not the case I get an error "no book
   found". Can this be cured?

- Bases: If one starts a training session, and ugly error is
thrown after the first puzzle is solved, as Scid wants to
write to the DB. Could this be cured as well?

- Autosave options: this throws an error, of course.

Giving those points we'd also be able to run from a CD
only system.
